Criminal law

Criminal law in India is governed by the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which came into effect in July 2024. The BNS replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act (IEA).
